Barack Obama, September 8, 2009: But at the end of the day, we can have the most dedicated teachers, the most supportive parents, the best schools in the world -- and none of it will make a difference, none of it will matter unless all of you fulfill your responsibilities, unless you show up to those schools, unless you pay attention to those teachers, unless you listen to your parents and grandparents and other adults and put in the hard work it takes to succeed. post a commentLord knows I don't want to defend Mallard Fillmore, but given comics lead times, Tinsley probably hadn't even heard about the school speech when he submitted this one. Otherwise, we would have had something about indoctrination. Of course, since most of the people who read this "comic" are rabid wingnuts, it could be regarded as a subtle dig at them. I mean, Obama's been talking about the importance of personal responsibility for close to 2 years now. But since Tinsley is a drunk-driving, partisan asshat, I'm going to have to assume this is just idiocy as usual.
Oh, no doubt. I just found it an ironic coincidence.
"Personal responsibility" is just a wing-nut dog whistle phrase for general anti-nanny state misgivings. We'll be seeing the "socialist indoctrination of Hitler Youth" meme showing up from The Duck in about two weeks.
Not to mention whatever crazy take Prick(ly) City takes.
