My son graduated from high school yesterday. The guest speaker was Vic Carter from WJZ-13. I paraphrase a few of his comments:
The road to success does not lead back home.
There are three things your parents do not want you bringing home: dirty laundry, bills (you make them, you pay them), and children. At least not until much, much later.
Wise words, Mr. Carter.
Holy crap! NO BLATANT COMMENT WHORING? No asking us who spoke at our graduation? No demanding to know what wise words we were given as we graduate? Nothing?
ReplyDeleteI feel that I simply must reward such a pressure-free environment for commenting with an actual comment! Bravo, Yellojkt... bravo! And many congratulations!
I knew I was forgetting something. It's been a busy week.
ReplyDeleteWhat Dave asked.
I also graduated from HS at a ceremony at Merriweather Post, and Vic Carter was ALSO the guest speaker ...
ReplyDeleteGood eye to spot that fenceline as Merriweather. I wonder if Vic changes his speech from year to year.
ReplyDeleteI did recognize the fence, but, also? All the Howard County HS have their ceremonies at Merriweather, I believe.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there was a speaker at my high school graduation (1981at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen; I'm sure the principal spoke and that was it).
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to you and your son!
I'm going to have to remember that laundry / bills / children line....
Wow, looks like you had great weather for graduation! And your son looks so happy! Congratulations to him and you and your wife!
ReplyDeleteOf course, there's just one word of advice for him now: Plastics.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to him, and to you for surviving the trip. One more year to go for me and mine.
Congratulations to your son! And congrats to you for the Timbuk 3 reference in your post title. Ted Forth would be proud.
