Whatever Happened To Fey Ray?

Saturday Night Live returned from the writer's strike with a vengeance, especially since the host was former headwriter and Weekend Update hottie Tina Fey. If Hillary immediately doesn't change her official campaign slogan to "Bitch Is The New Black" she has no hope.

You will notice that that clip is from the official NBC site and not YouTube. The YouTube version of the clip disappeared within 24 hours. They must have Jack Bauer manning the copyright violation desk at Universal.

But when it was on YouTube, the next video linked was an appearance Tina Fey made on Rachel Ray's talk show. RayRay admits to having a girl crush on Tina which made me wish I was the meat in that ragu. Yummo.

And if you need a soundtrack for that fantasy, Tina Fey and current Weekend Update host Amy Poehler play sexy tennis as part of a writer's strike improv performance.

Finally, just because we are on inappropriate metaphors, after watching this trailer featuring Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman, I want to be the baloney in a Boleyn sandwich. Eric Bana is one lucky actor.

Time for a long cold shower.

How geeky do you have to be to know who Fay Wray is? I would think that just about anyone over 40 or anyone who watches old movies ought to know. The Rocky Horror reference is a little more geeky, but I'd bet that, again, anyone over 40 has seen it once. (I've only seen it once, and I caught the reference.)

That said, except for Natalie Portman and Scarlet Johansson, I have no idea who any of the people in these clips are. Although I haven't had a chance to see it in over 10 years, SNL stopped being funny a good 20 years ago. They hit a stretch there where they couldn't even live up to the crew that immediately followed the original cast and that's BAD, really bad. At some point, I decided an extra hour of sleep was more worthwhile. And for some reason, whenever I hear/read Tina Fey, my brain throws out images of Tina Yothers and let's just not go there.

BTW, the YouTube videos are currently unwatchable outside the US. Pakistan broke the Internet yesterday trying to block YouTube and so far a fix has been applied only in the US.

I can't wait to see The Other Boleyn Girl. I'm going this weekend.

I'm not sure when The Other Boleyn Girl comes out here - I haven't seen it advertised, but then again I don't watch much TV - but since I'm a Tudor history buff and read the book I'd like to see it. Just watching that clip, however, leaves me with the impression that I'll leave the theatre a bit cranky. The book is fairly accurate historically speaking (with one glaring issue that I won't get into in case it's in the movie and I ruin it for people), but at the end of that clip where Mary is begging for Anne's life??? Didn't. Happen. Not even in the book. I hate when Hollywood feels they need to "improve" upon history.

This is a good show I like the way these women manage the t.v program they're able to do whatever thing they want because they have so successful working together.
