The Republican rebuttal to Barack Obama’s congressional address last night featured rising star Piyush "Bobby" Jindal giving a performance that reminded many, many, many people of a certain character from 30 Rock. Let’s look at the similarities and differences.

Heaven help me, I love policy wonks from any party, but I don't think I'll be able to watch Jindal in a serious policy discussion on c-span without thinking of Kenneth revising the NBC Page Manual, without being asked.

I have to say that I feel a little bad making fun of Bobby's accent in this regard because that is in fact Jack McBrayer's actual accent as well, and Jack McBrayer is great. I read an interview with him where basically the first few minutes were spent with the interviewer grappling with the fact that he really talks like that, and McBrayer said, "Yep! Millions of people talk like this! It's not strange at all!"
Jeff Foxworthy, who has an electrical engineering degree from Georgia Tech (which he leaves off his official resume) famously said that the minute someone hears a Southern accent, they spot you ten IQ points. Unfair, but true.

I just call him "Jindal: The Amazing Plastic Man." He even walked in like a Ken doll--all stiff and boring.
No doubt that McBrayer is an OG playa, but his character Kenneth draws the attention of everybody. He is just a pansexual love magnet.
I liked Jon Stewart's comparison to Mr. Rogers. That's all I can see when I watch him speak. Good lord.
