Quizzical

Lazy bloggers resort to quizzes. Yes, I'm being lazy. But these quizzes are intriguing. The first one is from Geekwif who can't figure out why her nerd score isn't higher. I wonder how mine got so high. I guess since I am an engineer, I would expect to be very nerdy (as opposed to dorky or geeky).

I am nerdier than 87% of all people. Are you nerdier? Click here to find out!

I don't remember where I got this second quiz but since it shows I should be an engineer, it's tough to argue with.

Your Career Personality: Brainy, Logical, and Efficient

Your Ideal Careers:

Archeologist
Astronomer
Book editor
Business manager
Civil engineer
Designer
Economist
Inventor
Judge
Scientist

The next quiz is philosphical. I really don't quite know what they mean by 'existentialist', but it could be worse.

You scored as Existentialist. Existentialism emphasizes human capability. There is no greater power interfering with life and thus it is up to us to make things happen. Sometimes considered a negative and depressing world view, your optimism towards human accomplishment is immense. Mankind is condemned to be free and must accept the responsibility.

69%

Postmodernist

50%

The final quiz is one used by kb on her Read/Think/Live blog where she cleverly associates social alienation with real aliens.

Alienation Test Results

Your Scores
Meaninglessness = 13
Cultural Estrangement = 19
Powerlessness = 15
Normlessness = 18
Estrangement from Work = 19
Social Isolation = 16

Scores should range between 5 and 25.
Scores from 5 to 11 could be considered "low,"
from 12 to 18 "moderate,"
and from 19 to 25 "high."

I think these results are the ones I should be worried about. None of these scores are less than "Moderate" and two are into the "high". I hope these quizzes don't bum you out, but they sure made me think.

I'm a 31 on the nerdy scale. Could be worse, no?

I gave up my role as "chief nerd of the family" when my son became smarter than me. Now I'm a lowly 13. I sent the quiz to him though so I'll have him comment later on.

The second quiz pretty much nailed my career preferences dead on with actor, artist, counselor, entrepreneur, musician, phychologist, teacher and TV reporter. Hmmm, apparently I've always wanted to be Dr. Phil.

According to the first quiz, I'm a mid-level nerd at 72. Holy Revenge of the Nerds!

According to the second quiz, I would supposedly do well as an Art director, Book editor, College professor, Composer, Film director, Graphic designer, Novelist, Stage actor, Psychiatrist, or Writer.

The third quiz: 81% Cultural Creative, 50% Postmodernist, 31% Fundamentalist, 31% Idealist, 25% Materialist, 25% Existentialist, 25% Romanticist and 13% Modernist.

And last:

Meaninglessness = 10
Cultural Estrangement = 14
Powerlessness = 10
Normlessness = 14
Estrangement from Work = 11
Social Isolation = 12

Great lazy post, Mr Yello!

World View:

Postmodernism is the belief in complete open interpretation. You see the universe as a collection of information with varying ways of putting it together. There is no absolute truth for you; even the most hardened facts are open to interpretation. Meaning relies on context and even the language you use to describe things should be subject to analysis.

This is what it gave me for ideal careers, and my gut reaction comments to those careers.

Architect - do you need to do math?

Artist - not creative, really, I just do stuff.

Business strategist - only if you really are desperate to stretch the definition of strategist.

College professor - as long as its not math.
Computer programmer - still have no math.

Mathematician - hahahahahahaha

Neurologist - faint at sight of blood.

Philosopher - if reading is involved, this is the one.

Photographer - must have ability to see clearly. Nope not me.

Video game developer - hahahahahahaha

My actual career is accounting. Do you need math for this?

Be afraid, very very afraid.
