Milestones
I’m not very good at keeping trap of the milestones that I pass as a blogger, mostly because I’m not very good at keeping track of them. Sometimes I don’t even know which one to mark. This is my 300th post since I started this particular blog. I let the 100th and 200th slip by entirely unnoticed.
My first blog post ever was nearly two years ago on April 4th of 2005, but I didn’t start posting regularly until July of that year. I’m not sure which to celebrate as my blogiversery, so I just ignore both. I certainly have gotten a lot more verbose since that time.
One milestone I have been keeping my eye on was the 100,000 visitor. I was hoping to catch that person and figure out which random Google phrase brought them there. I pretty much figured it would be a LostGoogler, since I tend to blog about Google-bait kind of topics.
My Sitemeter stats only go back 100 visitors, so visitor 100,000 slipped right past me sometime last week. I did notice that a reader right around the 100k mark was from Ypsilanti, Michigan. I only know one person from Ypsi and that is trusy getto. Trusty (not his real name) first commented on my blog back on August 10, 2005 on this rather lame post, proving that I was obsessed with my stats even back then. In some ways, trusty is one of my blog heroes. If a big hot shot lawyer raising two of the cutest little girls in the world can find time to blog, so can I.
It always surprises me when I look at very old posts and see names of commenters that are still around. It’s part of the community develops. I like hearing from people whose blogs I like. I even welcome blurkers that just come by once in awhile to see what’s new.
As I write this, of the last 100 visitors, 72 found there way to my blog from Google or another search engine. Thirteen came from a link on some other site. It’s the other fifteen that are the readers I really want.
Thanks for coming by.

I am not sure how long I've been visiting your blog, but it's been probably a year? It's on my blog bookmarks list, which I open (using the Firefox "open in tabs" option, so convenient) at LEAST once per day.
I don't always comment but I do always read if you have a new post. :)
I'll take this chance to delurk. I can't remember just how long I've been reading, but I do know I added you to my bloglines after finding your blog through the Comics Curmudgeon. Congrats on this milestone! :)
Like I said a couple of days ago, I've been dropping by here ever since the NC^4 last year. And I came through your linking to it at the CC. (Which I found thanks to a post at Reason, and don't ask how I found Reason, 'cause I have no idea.) Good thing it was last year, because I no longer have the time or patience to wade through all the posts at the CC.
Damn, 100k. I'm both jealous and impressed, mostly impressed.
How long have I been reading your blog? Ages... maybe a year and a half? I do know you were one of my first regular blog reads, so that makes you special. :-)
Congrats on the milestone, 'tis better than many other types of stones.
Sometime before you last March Madness stuff last year. I think it's your job to go back through the comments and tell US when we first started visiting ;-)
BTW, I wonder if anyone actually uses the pay version of Site Meter.
Gosh, I think I've been reading for about a year and a half! I check you out once a day to see if there is a new post and to read the comments! You're one of my favorite blogs!
:o)
I'd say I've been reading ever since your challenge to incorporate the phrase "alligator mouth, hummingbird rump" that was issued on the Curmudgeon. Unfortunately, time constraints lead me to, more often than not, stop by infrequently and do a lot of catching up at that time.
BTW, Marathon Man and I DID discuss tracking you down while I was in D.C. last weekend. Next time for sure...
Gosh, how long have I been reading your blog? It's been well over a year. I came here because I loved your witty comments on Micheles blog.
I checked the date that I added you to my Favorites and find that it was March 21, 2006; no doubt when you did the last NCCC. I might have been reading before that time though. I clicked over from Comics Curmudgeon. I enjoy your blog entries and appreciate your timely updates-always something new and fun. Except meme week; never thought that would end.
I've been here since August, 2005. I remember finding you from Mean Girl's blog and playing some lame ass meme because you were one of my first ten commenter’s. I've probably lost some important fact because I remember that.
h-man,
Wonkette and Defamer use Sitemeter. I bet they actually pay for it.
l-cat,
Yeah, Meme Week went on way to long.
used-to-be-me,
I've lost touch with mean-girl. She keeps changing her url.
Hmmmm. Let me see. I need to think back now . . . .
I believe it was in the days just before August 10, 2205.
Thank you for the kind compliments. But, on the contrary, YJ, you are my blog hero.
Do you ever get writer's block? I k now I can always count on you for a new post, regularly.
When Achenblog first allowed comments, Joel made some sort of reckless statement about welcoming commenters' links to their blogs in the comments section. People were amazed; one comment was, "I'm going to hurry and post this link before you change your mind." Someone else said, "I don't have a blog, but here's a link to a non-profit organization I work with." I'm pretty sure you were right there on the ground floor, flogging the foma. And back then there were few enough comments that it was possible to click on every link. So when was that, I think April 2005? Of course I could be wrong, but certainly I knew you first as a boodler. I really like your blog. You are a good writer and clever.
Oops, gotta go--
